- Serve as the primary contact for all Employee Relations (ER) issues, offering guidance, training, and resolutions to employees and managers on various ER matters.
- Provide valuable insights to address complex ER issues, including interpreting employment laws, managing conflicts, and conducting thorough investigations.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process gaps, leading teams to enhance policies and practices, and fostering a culture of positive change.
- Act as a trusted advisor, handling concerns raised by employees and management in the Western region with objectivity and professionalism.
- Utilise case management techniques to handle cases efficiently from intake to resolution, ensuring detailed documentation and data tracking.
- Collaborate with sector managers, leaders, HR, and trade unions to resolve employee matters effectively and implement training programs for managers.
- Utilise data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of ER programs and initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to ensure integration into all ER practices, promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
- Liaise with statutory agencies to establish contacts and stay updated on emerging policy and compliance requirements. Ensure alignment with national positions and address ER issues on a national scale as needed.
- Undertake any additional tasks as assigned. Support the team with ad-hoc project work and assist the HR team in updating company policies and procedures by researching and implementing best practices. Facilitate the sharing of information across services.
- Adhere to all HIQA requirements related to the ER function.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Extensive Employee Relations (ER) experience in Human Resources within a unionised setting, showcasing a strong commitment to employee relations and people management.
- A level 8 degree or equivalent qualification, or professional membership of CIPD (MCIPD /FCIPD) is highly desirable.
- Solid background in employment law, with a qualification being advantageous.
- Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations, a proactive problem-solving approach, a sense of urgency, excellent prioritisation skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive "can do" attitude.
- Proficient in people leadership, fostering a collaborative environment, quick issue comprehension, and effective time management.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex projects, driving organisational change, enhancing operational efficiency, and elevating the employee experience.
- Proven ability to deliver results independently and through influencing others, including HR and Business Leaders, with a focus on project execution.
- Strong customer service orientation, adept at relationship management, skilled in negotiation, and maintaining confidentiality with diplomacy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HR information systems.
- Commitment to recognising and upholding the equal rights of individuals with intellectual disabilities in society.
