Financial Accountant job - Large Irish MNC - Galway City - Excellent Benefits

Your new company

Your new company is one of the pre-eminent Irish business success stories from the Wets of Ireland. One of the leading players in the domestic and international retail industry, this company continues to surpass all expectations in terms of growth in both size and scale. From humble beginnings with one outlet in the 1980's, they now boast over 300 stores across Ireland, the UK and Europe with an annual turnover of over circa €2.5bin. The company has always remained true to it's roots and is committed to the West of Ireland and it's local community in Galway, with many of their central operations flowing through the Galway HQ.

Your new role

You will join the finance team as a Financial Accountant, reporting to the Head of Finance on-site and working alongside 3 other Financial Accountants. The company operates on a very flat organisational structure which allows you the opportunity to gain exposure in a very broad financial accounting role with a good blend of 'traditional' duties (such as preparing month-end management accounts, statutory returns, liaising with external and internal auditors and co-coordinating with AP/AR etc.) and exposure to other elements such as financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, intercompany accounting, consolidated accounts and group reporting. There is significant room for progression for strong candidates as the company's success has been built on a culture of promoting from within.

What you'll need to succeed

You must be a fully qualified accountant with a professional accreditation (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA). The role is ideal for someone either coming straight from an audit or general practice role or another general financial accounting role. Ideally, the candidate will have at least 2+ years PQE. The role requires strong attention to detail as well as excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The role also requires candidates to demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness and a 'can-do', solutions-first mindset. Experience using SAP or another integrated ERP system and exposure to group reporting structures is advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return

You will get a very competitive market salary depending on experience. In addition, there is 7.5% matched pension contribution, bonus scheme, hybrid working option (after 1 year), 23 days annual leave, life assurance cover as well as sick pay and an employment assistance programme. On top of this, the company boasts an impressive and inclusive company culture which rewards high achievers and is built on a strong team ethic. This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious accountant to gain exposure across financial and management accounting in an MNC environment where progression, mentorship and exposure is guaranteed.
