Senior Accounts Assistant - Wexford

Your new company
An insurance brokerage group in Wexford with long tenure amongst their employees, excellent work-life balance and a growing workforce are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team as part of this growth. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual as there is a clear pathway to the Head of Finance role over the next 5 years. As an SME company that is part of a larger US group, they have a real team culture where it's all hands-on-deck and you will get the opportunity to gain experience and understanding of the wider business.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will join a finance team of 3 people. The Financial Accountant duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and monthly group reporting packs
  • Preparing year-end financial accounts
  • Managing the year-end audit process
  • Assist with preparing the annual budget and reporting on budget vs actual, as well as long-term financial planning
  • Responsible for bi-monthly VAT returns and statutory returns
  • Monitoring internal controls
  • Developing an understanding of the compliance function in a financial services organisation
  • Assist with preparing payroll information for the outsourced payroll provider
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register
  • Ad-hoc projects related to costing, pricing and strategic analysis
  • Provide cover for the wider team when required, eg. credit control duties

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CPA/CIMA), however a strong experienced accountant with financial services experience who is qualified by experience will also be considered
The Financial Accountant should have financial services industry experience
Experience preparing monthly management accounts and dealing with auditors
A team-player approach - happy to jump in and support the team wherever it's needed

What you'll get in return
The Financial Accountant will be rewarded with a salary of up to €60,000, a discretionary bonus of 7.5%, 5% pension contribution, 22 days annual leave, professional subscription fees paid and a very flexible approach with work/life balance. They operate a hybrid model of 3 days in office and 2 days at home and are very flexible on start and finish times to suit your work/life balance needs. This role has been created to succession plan for the current Head of Finance so you can expect to progress to this role over the next 5 years.
