Senior Structural Engineering role with well-known, Cork-based Engineering Consultancy

Your new company

Hays has been retained to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer for a well-known, Cork-based Engineering Consultancy based just outside of Cork City.


Your new role

This role is situated within the client's Design team, where you will work closely with Project Managers, Architects and other engineers to produce structural designs for a variety of different sectors. Responsibilities are below:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing, and overseeing the construction of various structures, ensuring they are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Assist the production of drawings and reports. Prepare and co-ordinate structural specifications.
  • Attend meetings with architects and contractors to establish their needs.
  • Assist the project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines.
  • You will have the ability to design structural engineering solutions based on guidance from Senior Structural Engineers.
  • You will have a strong understanding of engineering principles and technical focus, an ability to apply engineering principles and codes of practice to solve technical problems.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland or IStructE) or an aim to achieve Chartered status in the near future is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing structural designs for a broad range of projects.
  • Strong coordination skills with design team members, local authorities, statutory bodies, contractors, and clients.
  • Solid technical engineering knowledge with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good IT skills and experience with structural analysis packages.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent time management and resource management skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
