Optical Network Development Engineer - CONTRACT - DUBLIN
Who will you be working for?
You will be working for one of the largest technology companies in the world, who have an office based in Dublin city centre. Working as an Optical Network Engineer, you will be immersed in the technological and progressive dynamic of the organisation.
What will you be working on?
You will be an important part of a team who are responsible for the build and rollout of global Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks. You will drive the scaling of current DWDM designs to meet the demand of customers, creating processes that help operate and build the DWDM network, and work closely with other Networking departments on new designs. Along with this, you will drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability, and ensure that the DWDM network adheres to the defined network standards. You must be highly autonomous, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and time management skills and have a successful track record of troubleshooting complex network problems and delivering innovative solutions.
What are we looking for?
We are looking to speak with candidates who have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. You will have min 5 years experience with the rollout and maintenance of large DWDM networks and optical network technologies, and min 3 years experience with optical planning and modelling tools, optical troubleshooting and design. You will have a good working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, along with SNMP, TL1 or XML-based management protocols. Strong Unix skills and the ability to script/program in a language are desirable, along with knowledge of L2 switching and L3 routing. You must have excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills, and very strong communication and stakeholder management skills.What you'll get in return
