A Civil Site Engineer is required in the Limerick region for water / flood relief schemes.

Your new company

A Site Engineer is required to work on large civils projects (flood relief schemes) in the Limerick region. The organisation is involved in various flood risk management contracts across the region. The primary functions of the flood risk management programme are to minimise the extent of coastal and river flooding and its social, economic and environmental impacts through the implementation of effective protection and mitigation measures for at-risk areas, the provision of flood risk guidance and advice in the area of sustainable planning, and assisting the development of resilient communities. The working hours are generally 09:00 to 17:00 hours from Monday to Friday, inclusive.

The role requires the management of the day-to-day activities of a direct labour workforce of specialist subcontractors. The following is a non-exhaustive list of duties for the Site Engineer:
Delivery of Arterial Drainage Maintenance programme in assigned area.
Organisation, direction and supervision of project construction and maintenance, including direction and supervision of the direct labour force.
Monitoring the works and ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with the design drawings and specifications.
Supervise civil engineering activities such as excavation, shuttering, steel-fixing, concrete works, pipe / culvert lifting and placing etc., and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety procedures and legislation
Production of method statements and risk assessments and checking that works is carried out in accordance with such documentation.
Setting out including levelling / Total-station / GPS work.
Assisting in the work of a project team, and assisting in managing the human, budgetary and other resources allocated to the work area, including monitoring work programmes, ensuring value for money, implementing management systems and procedures and reporting progress on a regular basis.
Investigation and reporting on matters arising from project construction and maintenance, including review of technical reports, draft tender and contract documents, and other outputs prepared by engineering consultants as part of the delivery of flood relief schemes.
Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or engineer.
Ensuring relevant legislation and policies are adhered to (such as environmental, health and safety, ISO etc.);
Quality assurance of deliverables and the implementation of internal and external data standards.
Directing and monitoring environmental good practice.
Accurate and timely setting out of works according to contract drawings, preparing drawings and calculations as required
Disseminating information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors and all site staff.
Assisting in the development of tender documents, contract administration and complying with public procurement guidelines;
Attendance at Steering Group and other related meetings for projects and dealing with any tasks or work arising from such meetings.
Representing the South West Region on various working groups within Flood Risk Management.
Liaising with other public bodies, local authorities, local organisations and individuals including the assessment of applications for funding from local authorities to undertake minor flood alleviation and coastal protection works.
Liaising with other team members, staff within the organisation and other public bodies, local authorities, local organisations and individuals (including members of the public), and attending meetings, as necessary for the work of the Division.
Assessment of technical applications for statutory consent for the construction / alteration of bridges, culverts and weirs.
Any other duties as specified

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience with a main contractor on the construction of civil engineering projects. Experience of river / flood defence works would be an advantage.
Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering.
Current Safe Pass Card.
Valid driving licence.
Use of own transport.
