Senior Water Network Operative (Semi-State)

Your new company

Your new organisation is a Semi-State Utilities Body that is responsible for some of Ireland's key infrastructure. They operate nationwide and are responsible for bringing water and wastewater services of the 31 local authorities together under one national service provider.

Your new role

The job is for a Water/Wastewater Network Senior Operator who will be responsible for supporting the operation of the water/wastewater network infrastructure safely and providing day to day leadership and direction to ensure consistent delivery of water services. The role will require working out of hours and there may be a requirement to work in both water and wastewater operations initially. The job is based on the Asset Operations function, which has responsibility for operational and maintenance strategy, policies, planning and standard operating procedures for water and wastewater operations nationally and regionally.
The job involves supervising the water/wastewater network in a designated area to ensure consistent customer service.
The role includes overseeing routine maintenance activities on the network assets, identifying interventions required on the network, and responding to customer complaints.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining health and safety standards, issuing permits to contractors, and engaging with stakeholders.
Other tasks include supervising teams, tracking and monitoring team activities, and providing cover and support to other water operations teams as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • The job requires a secondary level education or equivalent work experience and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • A full, clean, class B driving licence is mandatory, and additional driving licence categories are an advantage.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience supervising or managing teams working in a health and safety culture, and experience in a water or wastewater network environment is preferred.
  • The candidate should also have knowledge of the water/wastewater network, infrastructure, and operations. Strong problem-solving skills, customer service skills, and experience of using IT systems are required.
  • The role holder must have the ability to work in an environment that is sometimes uncomfortable or potentially hazardous.
  • Experience working within Water Services and/or other utilities is an advantage.
