Senior Water Treatment Maintenance Operator (Plumber)

Your new company

Your new organisation is a Semi-State Utilities Body that is responsible for some of Ireland's key infrastructure. They operate nationwide and are responsible for bringing water and wastewater services of the 31 local authorities together under one national service provider.

Your new role

This job involves managing and maintaining plumbing equipment for water, wastewater, and surface water infrastructure.
The responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, and monitoring the equipment for planned and reactive maintenance using handheld tablet computers. Other duties include installing, maintaining, and repairing water services infrastructure, assisting in leak detection, carrying out water main repairs, and training other team members.
Additionally, the job requires keeping an adequate supply of plumbing spares and recording technical data in written and diagrammatic format.
The job involves recording data on handheld devices, overseeing work involving third-party contracts, mentoring team members, and adhering to safety regulations. The candidate is expected to identify hazards, conduct site risk assessments, apply safe work procedures, use appropriate safety equipment and tools, maintain site welfare facilities, and record all site matters, including accidents, incidents, and near misses. The candidate is also required to complete any corrective actions, provide support in updating the Construction Stage Safety & Health Plan, and carry out any other duties as requested by their line manager.

What you'll need to succeed

The job requires a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate or equivalent in one of the listed disciplines and at least 2 years of relevant work experience:
  • Craft of Electrical Instrumentation
  • Craft of Instrumentation
  • Craft of Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting
  • Craft of Plumber
  • Craft of Electrical
  • Craft of Construction Plant Fitting
  • Craft of Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
The candidate should have experience coaching team members, working in a strong health & safety culture, and knowledge of various equipment, including pumps, motors, dosing pumps, air blowers, compressors, and more.
Experience with automated control systems and instrumentation is an advantage.
A full, clean, class B driving licence is required, as well as experience with IT systems and strong problem-solving skills. Experience working within the water industry and/or other utilities is preferred.
The role may require working in noisy environments and confined spaces using specialist equipment.
