The Role:
A forward-thinking renewable technology company is looking for an Operational Technology Technician, preferably from a networking background. You will be reporting to the Compliance Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing robust cybersecurity measures in line with regulatory requirements and to proactively mitigate risks to enhance operational efficiency.
What you will be doing
- Develop, review and maintain architectural, technical specifications and procedural documentation. Create and update standard operating procedures for network-related tasks.;
- Specify hardware and software requirements for new and upgrade projects.
- Manage the configuration of IT and OT hardware and software to meet cybersecurity requirements, and test the configuration to prove requirements are met.
- Set up, monitor and test software and configuration backups of OT and IT systems.
- Analyse and document assets and systems, develop cybersecurity test plans, use standard cybersecurity tools and methods and carry out network scans and penetration tests.
- Implement and manage network monitoring and management tools; org: Data Classification: Business Use
- I work internally and externally with third party vendors in the Renewable Energy IT and OT networking environments, working with multiple vendor firewalls, routers, network appliances and various types of WAN network links and VPN configurations.
- Keep abreast of and ensure compliance with regulatory directives such as NIS2.
- Work with the procurement team and procurement process for new and upgrade projects.
- Candidates will be required to take part in both online and in-person training and industry body workshops.
- Support cybersecurity training, documentation and delivery of training to colleagues in relation to any new systems, system changes and processes.
- Excellent communication skills are required for the role.
- The ability to support and work effectively with staff at all levels within the org and outside the organisation is essential.
- Provide updates for the management team.
- A candidate is required to complete a safe-pass certificate and be willing to travel to remote sites.

What we’re looking for
- Third level degree (min 2:2 classification) in a discipline with a high level of numerical, analytical and/or financial content. (Engineering, Finance, Science, Data Science).
- Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent are a distinct advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of networking protocols, security, and best practices.
- Working knowledge of OT data communications and protocols, with an advantage.
- Working knowledge of cloud environments and vendors.
- Working knowledge with software-defined networking (SDN) concepts.
- Candidates must have good knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and industry standards.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
