Financial Controller job - Galway City - Transport Industry - High Growth Start Up

Your new company

Your new company is one of the most ambitious and rapidly growing start-ups in the transport industry in Ireland. Established only a short few years ago, the company has experienced unprecedented growth due to the development of a unique business model which has accelerated their expansion nationwide. Led by a team of highly experienced business leaders, the company is still in its very early stages of growth and are now seeking to make their first hire internally in finance to join their senior leadership team.

Your new role

You will be the first hire in finance and will be tasked with bringing all functions of finance (management accounts, AP, AR, payroll, financial analysis) in-house from a local practice. In addition, you will be responsible for building a high-performing finance function with hires being made as the volume and level of work requires it. Moreover, you will also play a major role in developing business strategy and advising the Directors on the financial performance and direction of the company. You will play a central role in building and maintain critical business partnerships. In a very commercially focused role, you will also be involved in multiple tendering processes and the monitoring of large-scale contracts and projects.

What you'll need to succeed

You must be a fully qualified accountant with a professionally recognised accreditation (ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA). At least 3 years PQE in an industry role producing monthly management accounts, exposure to AP/AR and other daily accounting functions is essential for this role. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential as well as the ability to demonstrate a keen commercial acumen. As this role will initially be a one-person department in finance, you must be a self-starter with a proven ability to get projects across the line. This is an exciting role for someone looking to make a name for themselves in the business world.

What you'll get in return

A highly competitive market salary based on the experience of the successful candidate as well as a generous benefits package. You will gain the opportunity to build a finance function in your own image and have the autonomy to make the role your own in an entrepreneurial environment. You will also be a key decision maker in a rapidly scaling business and will have the ability to directly influence the success of the company.
