Associate Director - Bridges

Your new company
Hays have been retained to recruit an Associate Director to assist in overseeing our client's Bridges Division. This role will allow the successful candidate to lead a large team of Bridge Engineering professionals and has the potential to progress to Technical Director.

Your new role
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Lead and manage a local team of bridge engineering professionals.
  • Business Development: Drive business development and manage tender bids for professional services contracts.
  • Resource Planning: Conduct short, medium, and long-term resource planning to ensure project success.
  • Design Oversight: Provide design input and oversee the delivery of structural aspects of projects.
  • Project Management: Manage medium and large-sized projects, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets are delivered.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external parties, including clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • PSDP Duties: Assist in undertaking the duties of the Project Supervisor Design Process(PSDP).

What you'll need to succeed
Requirements:
  • Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as Bridge / Senior Bridge Engineer, with at least 10 years of experience on Irish projects post-graduation.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and hardworking, with a flexible approach.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from a technical perspective.
  • Experience in client-facing roles with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous staff management experience.
  • Proactive approach with a track record of delivering high-quality services to clients in both the public and private sectors.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in bridge design, inspection, assessment, and rehabilitation.
  • Proficient in Eurocodes and structural analysis software (MIDAS Civil or LUSAS).
  • Experience in the design and refurbishment of concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
  • Proven experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ireland and/or UK experience.
