Here at Hays we have a great opportunity for an Analytical Scientist to join an innovative contract laboratory organisation in Roscommon. The company has been in operation since 2012 so it is a relatively new start-up environment with a grass-roots culture on-site. They would have an established client-base receiving incoming samples from a variety of different sector
This role would be mainly responsible for ICP-MS testing and instruments and a good understanding of analytical chemistry methods and mass-spectrometry would be required. Well suited to those who enjoy the hands-on element of working in a laboratory environment and real-time problem-solving
Your new role
- This role will involve day to day preparation and analysis of submitted samples, method development and implementation of Quality Control measures.
- Analyze and test materials and compounds using various instruments and methods.
- Previous eperience utilising the ICP-MS instrument and performing analysis in a live practical setting.
- Interpret and report results from experiments and analyses.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for analyzing new products or materials.
- Collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and technicians to troubleshoot issues and optimize procedures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is calibrated and maintained to the appropriate standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment.
- Conduct research to stay up-to-date on advances in analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Effectively communicate with clients or colleagues to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Document all work and results accurately and thoroughly to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- The role will also involve training in other routine laboratory methods such as biochemistry and ELISA testing with continuous professional development supported.
What you'll need to succeed
- 5 years’ experience of working in a similar role with a bachelor’s or 3 with a Master's or PHD.
- The successful candidate should have the ability to work on their own initiative and have a good understanding of analytical chemistry methods and mass-spectrometry.
- Experience of working with ICP-MS would be essential.
- An ability to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions is also required.
