Exciting 12-month contract for a Trainee Accountant/Accounts Assistant based in Cork.

Your new role

Accounts Payable (AP)

• Process and record supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
• Assist in the preparation and process of payment runs.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.

Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Raise customer invoices and ensure timely recording of payments received.
• Follow up on overdue accounts and assist in credit control efforts.
• Maintain accurate records of customer accounts and resolve queries promptly.

Bank Reconciliation

• Reconcile bank statements to the accounting system regularly.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or anomalies.

General Ledger Maintenance

• Post journal entries and ensure accuracy of ledger accounts.
• Assist in maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.

Financial Reporting Support

• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
• Provide support during the budgeting and forecasting process.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field or studying towards an ATI/ACCA/CIMA qualification (preferred but not essential).
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage,) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
