Head of Sustainability opportunity with well-known Irish company
Your new company
Hays has been retained to recruit a Head of Sustainability by our client, a large retail & wholesale organisation who are based throughout Ireland.
Your new role
The Head of Sustainability will lead the sustainability agenda for the business and work with the Executive, business units and functions across the business to ensure the company and its brands are leaders in sustainability in Ireland.
Responsibilities:Leading the development and execution of company’s sustainability strategy and its application by business unit, channel and brand.
Translating strategy into actionable, commercial programmes and plans.
Setting robust and measurable targets and establishes effective monitoring and reporting of progress.
Developing and overseeing the implementation of policies to drive the execution of the strategy and ensure company is compliant with all regulations relating to sustainability.
Providing regular insight on global and local trends, developments and outlook in relation to regulation, consumer expectations and competitive activity.
Building influential relationships with a wide array of industry bodies, government agencies, retail partners & customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Providing subject matter expertise and practical advice on all aspects of sustainability to stakeholders across company.
Championing sustainability within the business and ensures it is at the heart of our culture.
Evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of sustainability activities and develops and implements improvements as necessary.
Identifying and ensuring compliance with leading industry accreditation schemes.
Developing an annual sustainability report.
Drafting and preparing reports, presentations, and proposals for the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.
Developing and maintaining appropriate documentation and records including budgets and other financials.
Preparing documentation required for project funding for various environmental initiatives including proposals and grant applications.
Identifying and facilitating training on sustainability for company colleagues and retail partners.
What you'll need to succeed
5 years’ plus experience, operating at a senior level with a track record of engaging multiple stakeholders and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in leading and implementing large programmes/projects.
Extensive knowledge of sustainability practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
Strong leadership skills – can paint a compelling picture, provide clarity, lead a team, effectively engage stakeholders and deliver exceptional results.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and influencing skills and an ability to interact at all levels of the organisation and motivate senior teams and colleagues to get things done.
Excellent change management skills.
Experience creating, interpreting and executing a budget.
Effective and creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
What you'll get in return
Salary: €120,000 to €130,000 with excellent package including performance bonus.
